About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to support and secure the backbone of our pharmacy operations. This role is critical to ensuring prescription, patient, and medical records are managed with the highest level of performance, security, and compliance.
As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining robust systems that power everything from prescription dispensing to billing, inventory tracking, and customer records across multiple pharmacy locations.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure secure storage and fast retrieval of prescription, patient, and medical records.
Monitor database performance, ensuring high availability and database security.
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
Support integration and reliability of Point-of-Sale (POS) systems with backend databases.
Manage databases that track medication and supply inventory across locations.
Conduct regular database backups and test recovery processes to prevent data loss.
Collaborate with pharmacy software vendors and tech providers for updates, patches, and technical support.
Manage user access, roles, and permissions to safeguard sensitive information.
Maintain clear documentation of database structures, policies, and procedures.
Support real-time inventory updates across multiple pharmacy sites.
Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, and HIPAA requirements.
Implement high availability solutions for mission-critical systems (dispensing, billing, customer data).
Design and test failover and disaster recovery plans.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in database administration (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of data security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
Experience working with POS or pharmacy management systems preferred.
Familiarity with compliance requirements in healthcare or pharmacy settings (FDA, DEA, HIPAA).
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
